privacy legislation was introduced to the House on Saturday. Following
an "opt-out" approach, the bill would require web sites
to give notice and an opportunity to limit use or disclosure of
personally identifiable information.
The bill would also direct the Federal Trade Commission
(FTC) to conduct a million dollar study of privacy concerns, tools
and strategies and make recommendations to Congress.
Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Rep. Chris Cannon (D-UT)
co-sponsored the bill, which was referred to the Committee on
Energy and Commerce
