Discussion of X12N Modifications Opens
May 7, 2001 -- X12N has established an online conference discussion
for Addendums (modifications) to the current X12N HIPAA Implementation
Guides. Change requests were submitted to the Change Request System
established by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Data
Standards Maintenance Organizations (DSMO), which includes:
- X12
- Health Level 7 (HL7)
- National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP)
- National Uniform Claim Committee (NUCC)
- National Uniform Billing Committee (NUBC)
- Dental Content Committee (DeCC) of the American Dental Association
The DSMO reviewed the change requests and determined that a few
changes were necessary for the healthcare industry to comply with
the HIPAA Transaction and Code Sets final rule. These DSMO approved
modifications were submitted to the X12N Subcommittee to be incorporated
into the HIPAA implementationguides.
At the February 2001 X12 Trimester meeting, X12N established a
process to publish Addendums that contain modifications to implementation
guides. The approved change requests received from the DSMO will
be published as Addendums to the current HIPAA implementation guides.
To participate in the online conference to review and comment on
the modifications go to:

the approved change request summary.
This online conference will close on Friday, June 1, 2001.

modifications and appealed change requests listed within the online
conference.
At the upcoming June X12 Trimester meeting (June 4-7) in St. Louis,
X12N will be holding Informational Forums to review and discuss
the comments received during this online conference.
X12N looks forward to your review and participation in our online
